Adventure Quest at Silver Bay

Silver Bay YMCA of the Adirondacks sits on the shores of Lake George about 90 minutes north of the Rensselaer campus. Located in the Adirondack Mountains, the 700-acre campus is breathtakingly beautiful. For more information on Silver Bay, check out their Web site at www.silverbay.org.

The Adventure Quest overnight experience at Silver Bay consists of a combination of large-group classroom experiences and other outdoor athletic-type activities that will occur in smaller groups. Accommodations are inn-style rooms with a shared bath. The large group activities will help you establish connections with your classmates while focusing on leadership skills and personal goal setting. In smaller groups you will participate in a day-long Wilderness Challenge Initiative requiring you to apply map and compass skills while completing specific challenges between a series of checkpoints. Working together, you will navigate your way from one wilderness checkpoint to the next while exploring concepts of leadership and teamwork. No prior experience is necessary, however a fair amount of hiking will be involved.

Finally, the Adventure Quest experience also includes an opportunity for you to stretch your personal boundaries by taking part in recreational activities. These activities include the climbing wall, swimming, archery, and more! Remember to bring a pair of sturdy shoes, a water bottle, bathing suit and towel!
